YOUR ROLE

We are seeking a detail oriented and motivated Container Inspector / Estimator to join our operations team in Dublin. The role includes inspecting shipping containers to assess condition, documenting damages, estimating repair costs, and ensuring compliance with international safety and quality standards. This critical position supports operational efficiency, cost control, and customer satisfaction in a fast paced logistics environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct visual and structural inspections of containers arriving and departing the facility.
  • Identify and document damages, wear, and defects in accordance with IICL or customer specific standards.
  • Prepare accurate repair estimates using specialised container management systems and software.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and repair teams to prioritise work orders and ensure timely turnaround of transport.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations during inspection processes.
  • Photograph container damage and maintain detailed inspection records.
  • Liaise with clients, depot supervisors, managers and transport coordinators regarding container condition and repair status.
  • Monitor container movement and inventory using internal systems.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, repair standards and relevant legislation.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Previous experience as a container inspector, depot estimator or similar role in the shipping, logistics or transport industry.
  • Knowledge of container types (standard, reefer, high cube, etc.) and repair standards (e.g., IICL).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Competent with inspection and reporting software and basic computer systems (Microsoft Office, depot management software, etc.).
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • A valid driver's licence may be required depending on site access.
  • Forklift certification or experience operating yard equipment is an advantage.
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland.
