The Consulting Engagement Manager will take day-to-day responsibility for delivering client consulting engagements from mobilisation through to completion. Working closely with clients, senior stakeholders and blended delivery teams, the Consulting Engagement Manager will manage delivery risks, commercial performance and the quality of client outputs.

Our client is a growing consulting business that forms part of a larger, established professional services organisation. They work with clients on transformation, programme delivery, organisational change, technology and commercial improvement.
Description
- Manage consulting engagements from mobilisation through to delivery, client acceptance and closure.
- Turn agreed statements of work into clear delivery plans, including activities, milestones, resources, responsibilities and acceptance criteria.
- Manage programme plans, governance, reporting, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions and change readiness across live engagements.
- Identify delivery problems early and lead recovery actions to keep engagements on time, within scope and within budget.
- Manage engagement budgets, delivery costs, consultant utilisation, work in progress and forecast profit margins.
- Manage scope changes through formal change control, assessing the impact on costs, resources and timescales before additional work begins.
- Lead blended delivery teams consisting of client employees, consultants, interim associates, suppliers and delivery partners, ensuring clear responsibilities and effective collaboration.
- Act as the main day-to-day client contact, managing senior stakeholders, competing priorities, delivery expectations and escalations.
- Review and quality-assure client deliverables to ensure they are accurate, consistent and meet the agreed requirements and quality standards.
- Support business change and adoption, while capturing lessons learned, client outcomes and evidence of the value delivered.
Profile
A successful Consulting Engagement Manager should have:
- Strong experience managing consulting engagements or complex transformation programmes from mobilisation through to delivery and closure.
- Practical experience across programme or project delivery, PMO, governance, delivery assurance and business change.
- Proven responsibility for programme planning and the management of risks, issues, dependencies, decisions and delivery readiness.
- Strong commercial management experience, including budgets, delivery costs, utilisation, work in progress, profit margins and change control.
- A track record of identifying delivery or commercial problems early and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Experience leading blended and multidisciplinary teams, including client staff, consultants, interim associates, suppliers and delivery partners.
- Proven ability to manage multiple senior stakeholders with different or competing priorities, build alignment and influence decisions.
- Strong client-management skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively, manage difficult conversations and handle delivery escalations.
- Experience reviewing and quality-assuring client outputs, with a strong focus on accuracy, consistency and client outcomes.
- Relevant qualifications such as PRINCE2, MSP, APM PMQ, PMP or SAFe would be beneficial, although strong practical consulting delivery experience is more important.
Job Offer
- Competitive salary of £40,000 to £50,000
