Job Description

Applications are invited for a dynamic and motivated Consultant Radiologist with an interest in GI Radiology at Frimley Health. The post will primarily support the new community diagnostic centre and its reporting requirements.

We are offering an opportunity to join an established and pro-active team to respond to this growing service.

The post will be based out of the newly refurbished Wexham Park Hospital with reporting and ultrasound opportunities at Heatherwood hospital and the new community diagnostic centre in Upton, Slough.

The successful applicants will provide a full range of GI radiology and general radiology including CT, MRI, plain film, ultrasound and fluoroscopy. Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings is also expected and proficiency in small bowel ultrasound would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

PURPOSE OF JOB:

To provide a full General Radiology service for the Trust and support the new community diagnostic centre -with a special interest in Gastro-intestinal imaging.

Audit and Clinical Governance

A half day per month is dedicated to audit and teaching. All elective work is cancelled for this session and staff are expected to attend and participate as part of clinical governance arrangements. There is also a developing peer review programme and errors meeting. All CPD requirements must be met.

Consultant meetings are held monthly and are chaired by the Clinical Lead.

On Call

The post requires participation in a full and active on call service with internal cover

Teaching

The Radiology team at Wexham Park, Heatherwood and Parapet sites are part of the Oxford Deanery Radiology Training Scheme

A wide grounding during training of all aspects of Urological / GI / Emergency and General Radiology including cross sectional imaging CT, MRI & Ultrasound

Experience of teaching undergraduates, postgraduates and trainee specialists

Understand principles and participated in audit activity

Understand the principles of Clinical Governance and demonstrate experience of evidence based practice

Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and Radiological problems

Qualifications
Essential

  • Full GMC registration
  • FRCR or equivalent
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to Radiology
  • Knowledge of latest RCR guidance relating to GI imaging
