Job overviewThis post is for a Consultant Radiologist with a specialist interest in Chest and Cardiac Imaging at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust, based at Watford General Hospital but with a requirement to work at other sites including Hemel and St Albans Hospital. Post is 8PA with flexible working supported.
The position involves a commitment to the AAU radiology rota, with a dedicated 5-hour session per week and occasional additional filler sessions. On-call commitments include a 1 in 20 weekend rota, requiring on-site presence at weekends/bank holidays between 08:30 and 15:30.
Main duties of the jobExtensive experience in general and Chest and Cardiac (Level 2/3) Imaging, as well as interventional lung procedures (ultrasound and CT guided).
Knowledge of NHS complaints system and record of incident and near miss reporting.
Teaching undergraduates and postgraduates, demonstrating honesty, integrity, and appreciation of ethical dilemmas.
Experience of research and presentations to learned societies.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities- Contribute to the high-quality Consultant-led diagnostic radiology service at WHTH.
- Support other imaging development within WHTH.
- Contribute to R&D in radiology and other linked medical specialties.
- Provide evidence-based care for all patients.
- Adhere to clinical and quality standards.
- Liaise effectively with colleagues, General Practitioners, community services, and healthcare agencies.
- Maintain and promote team and multi-disciplinary work.
- Participate fully in the management of the department and liaise closely with the Clinical Director and Divisional Manager.
- MB BS or equivalent, FRCR or equivalent, CCST (or within 6 months of date of interview), or on specialist register.
- MRCP/FRCS.
- Extensive experience in general and Chest and Cardiac (Level 2) Imaging, with the ability to perform complex body CT and MRI.
- Ability to perform US and CT guided lung procedures/biopsies.
- Cardiac Imaging Level 3 accredited.
