Job Description
Overview

Your part in our mission is to help public sector clients make smarter procurement decisions, ensuring public funds are spent effectively and compliantly. The complexity of what the UK Government needs to procure is increasing, and this role supports those efforts within Squarcle.

Our structure

At Squarcle, we operate in a matrix structure designed to support your growth and success. You'll have a Performance Manager to guide your career development, an Engagement Manager to support your day-to-day project work, and a Capability Lead to ensure best practice across tools, people, and processes. This role sits within our Procurement Capability, where you'll work closely with Andrew, Head of Procurement, and report into one of our Engagement Managers. Your Performance Manager and project assignment will be confirmed once your first engagement is agreed.

This is what you'll be doing

As a Consultant within our Procurement capability you'll join us as we build momentum. This role offers scope for you to shape how we grow, not just keep up with it. Some of your key day-to-day activities will include:

  • Supporting stakeholder engagement and ensuring the right voices are heard in the work
  • Preparing for and contributing to client workshops where problems are explored and solutions take shape
  • Carrying out analysis and turning it into clear, well-structured outputs
  • Helping draft options appraisals that give clients clarity to make confident decisions
  • Creating commercial tools, models, and artifacts that are robust, practical, and add real value
  • Contributing to client briefings and advice, balancing support with challenge as your consulting skills grow

We'll continue to develop and measure your success in the following areas

Each engagement will have a set of deliverables which you will be responsible for. We'll measure your success in the following areas:

  • You deliver outputs that are consistently high quality, accurate, and insightful
  • You show a genuine drive to learn and continuously improve your craft as a consultant
  • You demonstrate professionalism in every interaction, earning trust from clients and colleagues
  • You communicate clearly and effectively, tailoring your style to your audience and making complex ideas easy to understand

Where you'll be stretched (and thrive)

  • Consulting at pace: you'll be challenged to balance analysis with action, adapting your approach to different clients and contexts
  • Working through ambiguity: not every brief will be neatly defined, and success will come from creating clarity where none exists
  • Stakeholder management: you'll need to quickly build trust, influence decisions, and bring diverse voices together around a common goal

We think you'll love

  • Join a rapidly growing team: your impact will be visible and your ideas can shape how we grow
  • Real opportunities to progress: as the team scales, so will your career
  • Help clients deliver some of the most complex procurements in the country: making a tangible difference on projects that matter

This isn't just another consulting role. It's a chance to be part of something growing, ambitious, and meaningful.

The skills you'll need
  • Some public sector procurement experience with a real interest in growing your expertise: you will understand the difference between competitive flexible procedures and an open framework
  • Passion for achieving the most advantageous outcome for the public sector
  • Exposure to procurement and commercial projects: you will have supported parts of a project or taken responsibility for specific workstreams
  • Hands-on experience: carrying out analysis, preparing outputs, or engaging with stakeholders, and the drive to build on that foundation
How we'll assess your skills

Our interview process for this role will involve two steps:

  1. Step 1: Meet with our Recruitment Manager, Corina. She'll introduce you to Squarcle, the role, and answer any questions you may have about us. We'll be assessing some basic skills for the role and learning more about your background.
  2. Step 2: Meet with our Head of Procurement, Andrew. He'll dive into your consulting and procurement skills in a competency interview and answer any further questions you may have about the role.
What we offer

We believe great work deserves great rewards. Here's what you can expect as part of the team:

  • Generous leave package
  • 26 days of annual leave (including your birthday) plus UK bank holidays - increasing to 27 days after three years, and 28 after seven years; five extra days for five- and ten-year anniversaries; additional leave for Reserve Forces
  • Private medical insurance (provided after probation)
  • Recognition and rewards, including a £1,000 referral bonus and performance-related awards
  • Milestone and life-event hampers to celebrate moments
  • Development and learning: annual training week abroad; funding for qualifications
  • Travel and wellbeing: cycle to work scheme; discounted railcards
  • Pension: NOW Pensions, 3% employer and 5% employee contributions

We review our benefits regularly to stay competitive; this list may evolve as we grow.

Our working hours are 8:30am - 5:30pm, Monday - Friday.
