Job Description

We are delighted to expand our psychological leadership with dedicated leadership to our Women's Secure Blended Service (WSBS), recognising the specialist needs of forensic mental health services for women.

Our WSBS currently comprises 18-beds across 2 wards within the Riverside Centre, part of the wider Adult Forensic Services (AFS) in Prestwich. A major positive development within the WSBS is the introduction of a new clinical model of care which is underpinned by the guiding principles of collaborative, gender-sensitive and formulation-driven care, within a system which is trauma-informed and recognises the centrality of relationships for both our patients and workforce.

As the Consultant Psychologist, you will provide dedicated strategic and clinical leadership, shaping service transformation, psychological practice, staff development and clinical evaluation. In addition, you will collaborate with the Lead Consultant Psychologist for AFS with AFS-wide work. To ensure the delivery of quality care, you will work closely with multidisciplinary and senior leadership teams, alongside patients and their family members, as well as with commissioning colleagues, particularly in respect to the Women's Transformation Programme.

This post is suited to a Practitioner Psychologist with substantial leadership and clinical experience, who can work ably with both systemic and clinical complexity. We would warmly welcome hearing from potential candidates.

Main duties of the job

The main duties are to:

Provide expert psychological leadership within the WSBS, contributing to strategic planning and service transformation.

Provide professional leadership for the psychological provision, embedding and maintaining clear mechanisms of governance which ensure the delivery of safe and quality care.

Lead on complex psychological assessment, formulation and interventions, ensuring care is evidence-based, trauma-informed and gender-sensitive.

Offer expert advice on risk assessment, formulation and management, and ensuring this is integrated into multidisciplinary decision-making.

Provide consultation, supervision and training to a variety of professionals across the wider Adult Forensic Service.

Assist with the ongoing implementation of the National Women's Transformation Work and embedding best practice standards.

Lead and support service evaluation, research, clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.

Develop and maintain effective partnerships with commissioners, carers and community services.

Please Note - This post is subject to AFC banding.
