Consultant Physicist - Band 8D

This is a fixed term post for 12-16 weeks on a part time basis. To act as a Consultant Physicist. To support the current team.

Main duties of the job

Commissioning and clinical implementation of our new Halcyon Linac. To ensure the project is delivered on time and we are able to treat our first patient in line with the schedule.

Job responsibilities

Provide assurance around commissioning.

Support clinical resilience and contingency with Halcyon.

Identify clinical site implementation priorities.

Oversee new patient pathway development.

Review imaging protocols and support clinical implementation on Halcyon.

Identify and lead on developing necessary training and documentation.

Person Specification Qualifications

• BSc Honours degree (1st or 2nd class) in a relevant subject
• MSc or PhD in a relevant Physics area, on the HSSR or equivalent experience
• IPEM
• State Registration as a Clinical Scientist
• On MPE register
• Fellow of IPEM of other relevant professional body
• RPA/RWA

Previous Experience

• Significant experience in Radiotherapy Physics
• Experience in leading and managing team of scientists and technologists
• Experience of training
• Record of publications/presentations
• Experience of committee work and policy development
• Training Assessor with eg ACS/AHCS

Evidence of Particular: - Knowledge - Skills - Aptitudes

• Team motivator
• Ability to communicate scientific concepts to others
• Ability to work with other disciplines in a clinical setting
• Good communication and presentation skills

Specific Requirements

• Knowledge of national policies and initiatives in cancer, imaging and diagnostic services
• Participation in national activities
