Job Description

The closing date is 13 March 2026

West London Children's Healthcare (WLCH) are pleased to invite applications for one full time (10PA) Paediatrician with Expertise in Cardiology post based on the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital campus.

On 1st April 2022, paediatric and child health services across Chelsea & Westminster NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust came together under a single and integrated governance and leadership structure creating WLCH.

We have an ambitious vision to improve the health and wellbeing of children and young people across West London through collaboration of clinical teams and by building stronger, equitable common care pathways with close links to research and education colleagues at Imperial College.

WLCH runs paediatric services from four sites, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, West Middlesex, Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary's Hospital. In addition, we are working in partnership with other acute providers in NWL and with our partners in community, mental health, local borough and voluntary sector services to improve care for all children and young people.

Stakeholder Assessment and Interview will take place on Wednesday 1st April 2026.

Main duties of the job

This is a full-time (10 PA) Consultant post, primarily based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The post holder will play a key role in the delivery of paediatric cardiology and general paediatric services across inpatient, high-dependency, and outpatient settings.

Clinical duties include the delivery of outpatient clinics, provision of specialist clinical advice (including triage), and assessment and management of inpatients on the paediatric wards and Paediatric High Dependency Unit (PHDU). The role includes attending weeks on the paediatric wards and/or PHDU, and participation in a 1:8 on-call rota, providing evening General Paediatric and HDU cover with non-resident overnight responsibility.

Outpatient activity will focus on the provision of secondary-care paediatric cardiology services including both outpatient clinics (including those running alongside the tertiary Cardiology team) and inpatient reviews on paediatric wards or High Dependency Unit.

While the primary focus will be the Chelsea and Westminster site, the post holder will join a growing team of PECs across WLCH, including the West Middlesex and St Mary's sites and will link in with the tertiary Congenital Heart Disease Network. This may include clinics on other WLCH sites.

Applicants would be expected, as part of the team, to be actively involved in training, clinical governance and quality improvement.
