Ophthalmology Consultant

Location: Inverness Contract Type: Locum Salary: £90 - £110 + negotiable Job Type: Full time Shifts: 08:30 - 17:00 / 08:00 - 20:00 Job Summary We're recruiting an experienced Ophthalmology Consultant to join a high quality eye service, delivering safe, patient centred care across outpatient clinics, diagnostics and surgical pathways.

This role suits a locum consultant with at least six months recent NHS experience who can adapt quickly to NHS systems, pathways and multidisciplinary working.

You'll contribute to comprehensive ophthalmology services, including cataract care and general ophthalmology, with the opportunity to provide subspecialty input depending on service needs.

About You You're a clinically confident Ophthalmology Consultant with strong surgical skills and up to date knowledge across general ophthalmology and cataract surgery.

You value teamwork, communicate clearly and take pride in delivering a positive patient experience.

You're committed to maintaining high standards of care, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to continuous service improvement.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Minimum six months recent NHS experience
  • Strong cataract surgery experience and broad general ophthalmology competence
  • Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Compassionate, patient centred approach
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Subspecialty interest such as oculoplastic, cornea, glaucoma or medical retina
  • Experience contributing to ophthalmology service development
  • Teaching or supervisory experience
  • Involvement in audit, quality improvement or research activity
