Consultant Ophthalmologist - Glaucoma Specialist

Location: Belfast Health & Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland
Start Date: ASAP Contract: 6-Month Fixed Term (with potential extension)

This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your glaucoma expertise to a supportive, high-performing team within the Belfast Health & Social Care Trust. We're seeking a dedicated Consultant Ophthalmologist to take a key role in delivering and advancing specialist glaucoma services.

What You'll Do
  • Deliver expert care in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma patients
  • Lead surgical management including trabeculectomies and tube shunts
  • Run outpatient clinics and participate in multidisciplinary decision-making
  • Supervise and develop junior doctors and trainees
  • Drive forward quality improvement and clinical audit initiatives
  • Play an active role in teaching, research, and service development
Who We're Looking For
  • Full GMC registration
  • Specialist training in Ophthalmology (completed or within 6 months)
  • MRCOphth or FRCOphth
  • Significant experience in glaucoma surgery and patient management
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Published research in glaucoma or related subspecialty
  • Management or teaching qualifications
