Job Description Overview

The Consultant of Retirement, Savings & Financial Wellbeing will support the oversight and governance of the Company's UK and Europe defined benefit (DB) retirement plans, global employee share plan, and financial wellbeing programmes. The role has direct oversight, and responsibility for the delivery, of the DB pensions arrangements in the UK&E region. The Company has several DB plans in the UK, including the Atkins Pension Plan, which will form a large focus for this role. This role will ensure compliance with DB pension regulatory requirements, coordination of external pension scheme advisers and trustees, and acts as a point of contact for employee queries. The role reports to, and supports, the Director in their role leading on the company's global Employee Share Ownership Plans (ESOP) and financial wellness strategies. In this capacity, collation of local regions' practices and administrative assistance will be required from time to time.

Your role

First point of contact for the UK DB pension plans for trustees and advisers. Oversee day to day DB pension operations. Includes coordination and oversight of advisers, tracking service delivery, employee queries, and project progress. Attendance at trustee meetings for the Atkins Pension Plan. Secretarial support services are provided via external outsourced provider, but close working with the secretarial support team expected. Agenda and business planning, follow up on actions, and adviser budget approvals and invoice sign offs. While the external outsourced administrator would usually be the principal point of contact for scheme members, this role will also be an alternative point of contact for employee queries relating to DB pensions. Assist with member communications and oversight of external outsourced administration provider. Maintain accurate records, trackers, and governance documentation to support internal business reporting. Provide a link to payroll and wider rewards team, as required, in relation to DB pension schemes. Support global retirement, share plan, and financial wellbeing activities through coordination, data gathering, and documentation. Assist with coordination for year end accounting, board assurance inputs, and preparation of materials for governance meetings. Liaise with Corporate Finance, Treasury, and Legal/CoSec teams to follow up on actions and manage information flow. Provide analytical and administrative support for M&A due diligence and integration tasks. Support delivery of UK & Europe DB pension strategy through research, data preparation, and coordination with advisers.

About you
  • Prior experience of working with UK trust-based pension schemes, ideally in operational, secretarial, or trustee matters (essential)
  • Prior exposure to DB pensions administration, whether through direct prior experience of via an oversight role (preferable)
  • Prior experience of scheme risk transfer projects and scheme wind up activities (beneficial but not a pre-requisite)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder and project management skills (essential)
  • Ability and motivation to work independently and drive forward activities (essential)
  • Experience in a multinational environment with ideally exposure to HR committee reporting and risk management (beneficial but not a pre-requisite)
  • Global pensions accounting coordination experience (beneficial but not a pre-requisite)
