Consultant Occupational Health Physician

Main area Occupational Health Grade. NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant Contract Permanent. Hours Full time - 10 sessions per week (Monday to Friday 8 m - 4:30 pm). Job ref 321-MS-CON S5.

Site: Centre for Occupational Health and Wellbeing, Town Oxford. Salary £109,725 - £145,478 per annum. Closing 20/11/:59.

The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John Radcliffe Hospital, Churchill Hospital, Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington and the Horton Hospital in Banbury.

Applications are invited for a full time (10 PA) Consultant Occupational Physician post in the Centre for Occupational Health and Wellbeing based at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford OX3 9DU. Part time applicants will also be considered. The successful candidate will join our SEQOHS accredited, multidisciplinary Occupational Health team. We are looking for an initiative taking collaborator to help further develop this excellent clinical service, maximizing its potential for the future.

Applicants need to have full GMC registration, be on the specialist register or within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT/CESR or already in possession of CCT/CESR in occupational medicine at time of closing date.

Person specification
  • Primary medical qualification MFOM/ FFOM (or equivalent)
  • GMC Registration as an Occupational Health Specialist holding a current full licence to practice. If in training, to be eligible for entry onto the GMC Specialist Register within 6 months from the date of the AAC.
  • Evidence of experience in Occupational Medicine in both NHS (or equivalent healthcare) and non NHS organisations.
  • Evidence of ability to practice independently and manage complex cases including case conferences.
  • Evidence of leadership/project management.
  • Evidence of effective administrative and time management skills.
  • Evidence of significant contribution to successful teamwork. Appointed doctor status.
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of formal and informal contributions to teaching and training.
  • Evidence of effective and sustained contribution to clinical governance, clinical risk management and clinical audit activities.
  • Evidence of engagement in critical appraisal, journal clubs, contribution to published articles.
