Job Description
Consultant in Vascular & Endovascular Surgery 
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust - John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford (Job Ref: 321-MS-TP-CON S5). Permanent, full time (10 sessions per week).
Salary: £113,565 - £150,569 per annum (pro rata).
Main duties of the job- Provide elective and emergency endovascular and open vascular surgery across the Thames Valley Vascular Network (Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire).
- Cover the full range of procedures including aortic disorders (open and endovascular), carotid endarterectomy (with stenting), peripheral vascular disease, diabetic foot management, and venous disease treatment.
- Participate in the Consultant of the Week arrangement for on call cover; take responsibility for all in patients during off site periods.
- Develop and maintain local clinical pathways, collaborating with interventional radiologists, vascular clinical nurse specialists, general practitioners, and other NHS trusts.
- Engage in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees; contribute to research and audit as part of day to day clinical activity.
- Adhere to all local policies and management procedures, including resource allocation, commissioning, and revalidation processes.
- Complete a 10 programmed activities weekly schedule (8.5 direct clinical care, 1.5 supporting professional activity).
- GMC registration (registered licence to practice).
- Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (or equivalent).
- Full and specialist registration (or a licence equivalent to CCT/Portfolio pathway) within 6 months of interview.
- Specialist training in vascular surgery; for UK trained applicants a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or within six months of award.
- Non UK trained applicants must provide evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
- Higher research degree (PhD or UK MD).
- General training in vascular surgery to specialist level with evidence of excellent clinical skills.
- Ability to make consultant level decisions and work independently, taking accountability for actions.
- Excellent leadership, organisational, communication and professional skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team across three NHS trusts.
- Effective written and spoken English with highly developed communication abilities.
- Experience teaching undergraduates and trainees, clinical audit, and published research in peer reviewed journals.
- Knowledge of NHS organisation and government agenda for centralisation of services.
- Training and experience in management.
- Valid driving licence; ability to travel between network hospitals.
