Job Description
Consultant in Sexual And Reproductive Health

We are seeking a dedicated Consultant in Sexual and Reproductive Health to join our established team at Ambrose King Centre, Royal London Hospital, and Sylvia Pankhurst Centre at Mile End. Our services include comprehensive SRH care such as abortion, menopause, and FGM care, in collaboration with GUM, HIV, and Women's Health teams. We are also a training centre for FSRH qualifications. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, including performing surgical abortions up to 14 weeks gestation.

Main duties of the job
  1. The post holder will commit to 10 PAs weekly, with consideration for LTFT applicants. They will support care delivery and team training, working across all SRH areas, including surgical and medical abortion, menopause, and contraception services.
  2. Deliver general sexual health clinics, providing supervision and training to staff, and participate in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students in SRH.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Full GMC registration with a license to practice
  • LoC in IUT and SDI if not CCT in CSRH MFSRH
  • On specialist register or within 6 months of admission
  • Faculty Registered Trainer or eligible
  • Dip GUM GCP
  • FSRH SSM in ultrasound or equivalent if not CCT in CSRH
  • STIF intermediate or equivalent
  • Eligible to work in the UK
Language Skills
  • Effective written and spoken English for communication with patients and colleagues
Experience
  • Experience in an integrated sexual health service
  • Safeguarding procedures
  • Services for young people, including under 16s
  • Working in an abortion service
  • Provision of complex contraception
  • Multicultural community experience
  • Teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Research in sexual health/HIV
  • Gynaecology ultrasound experience
Skills
  • Ability to perform surgical abortion up to 14 weeks
  • Relationship development skills
  • Organisational and teaching skills
  • Capability to provide surgical abortion >14 weeks and MVA
Knowledge
  • Level 1-2 STI management and genital dermatoses
  • Service development support
Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement
  • Understanding of clinical governance and quality improvement
  • Experience leading clinical audits
  • Interest in teaching MDT members
