This is anexciting opportunity to join OHID South West to help drive forward improvementsin health and wellbeing and tackle inequalities in health. We are looking for two outstanding specialistsin public health to work with a wide range of internal and external national,regional, and local partners and stakeholders to develop, drive and scale-updelivery of national and regional public health programmes. You will providepublic health leadership, expertise, and system support to help address bothcomplex and emerging public health challenges. You will have line managementresponsibilities for a small team.
Main duties of the jobOHID South West is a dynamic & fast paced team and postholders will be required to contribute to a wide range of high profile publichealth related work and be confident to work with a broad range of seniorinternal and external stakeholders to create change.
We are looking for dynamic and self-motivated individualswho can manage themselves and others independently, work under pressure and becomfortable with complexity and change. Applications would be welcomedfrom individuals who can demonstrate skills and experience in creative andcritical thinking, innovation, strategic planning and shaping and deliveringcomplex programmes.

We alsowork to tackle health disparities and their wider determinants in order tobreak the link between an individuals background and their prospects for ahealthy life.
OHID organises the delivery of its functions in Englandthrough its Regional Centres (North East and Yorkshire, North West, Midlands,East of England, South West, South East and London). Regional centres aremanaged under the leadership of a Regional Director and NHS Regional Directorof Public Health.
The Health Improvement team collaborates with regional partners in the LA, NHS, SW ADPH and South West Councils, to support people living in the South West to remain healthier for longer. Fundamental to all this work is a commitment to tackling health inequalities and supporting everyone so they can expect to live more of life in good health.
The division is structured around three life course teams (Children & Families, Adults and Older Adults) and two topic focused teams for addictions and obesity
If medically qualified the individual will be appointed tothe point of the consultant salary scale (2003 contract) for Englandappropriate to their years of seniority or if from a background other thanmedicine to an equivalent Agenda for Change Band 8d

Person Specification Qualifications- Masters in Public Health or equivalent.
- Inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register/GDC Specialist List/UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists.
- Applicants must meet minimum CPD requirements.
- MFPH by examination, exemption, or assessment.
- Strategic thinker with proven leadership skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills (including dealing with the media)
- Effective interpersonal, motivational, and influencing skills
- Ability to respond appropriately in unplanned and unforeseen circumstances
- Good presentational skills (oral and written)
- Sensible negotiator with a practical expectation of what can be achieved
- Substantially numerate, with highly developed analytical skills using qualitative and quantitative data
- Ability to design, develop, interpret, and implement policies
- Ability to concentrate for long periods (e.g., analyses, media presentations)
- Training and mentoring skills
- High level of understanding of epidemiology and statistics, public health practice, health promotion, health economics, and health care evaluation
- Full understanding of and commitment to addressing relationships and cultures of organizations that impact the wider determinants of health
- Full understanding of and commitment to delivering improved health through mainstream NHS activities
- Understanding of NHS and local government cultures, structures, and policies
