Consultant in Perinatal Psychiatry - Clover Ward MBU

The post is a Consultant in Perinatal Psychiatry based at Clover Ward Mother and Baby Unit, Melbury Lodge, Winchester. The unit is an 8 bed inpatient service caring for birthing parents with severe mental illness and their infants, operating 24/7.

The closing date is 06 August 2026.

Core responsibilities include:

• Clinical leadership, multidisciplinary team working, risk management, and supervision of junior doctors.
• Providing Responsible Clinician duties under the Mental Health Act and engaging in service development, governance, teaching and CPD.
• Managing a 7 person job plan (5 DCC, 2 SPA) with ward rounds, CPAs and academic activities.
• Participating in business planning, strategic work of the Trust, and quarterly liaison network meetings.
• Ensuring patient care coordination, information provision, and quality improvement.

Qualifications and experience:

• Recognised basic medical degree (MD/BSc).
• MRCPsych or equivalent and Full GMC Registration.
• Eligibility for inclusion on the Specialist Register and CCT in General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of interview).
• Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
• Training or experience in Perinatal Psychiatry.
