Consultant in Palliative Medicine
Posted 2 hours 27 minutes ago by NHS
We are very excited to be offering two new Palliative Medicine Consultant posts within the highly regarded palliative care teams of Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust (SASH) and St. Catherine's Hospice (Pease Pottage).
These posts have arisen initially out of retirements in each team but are being advertised together, both to be employed by SASH, in order to emphasise our overlapping patient populations (pre-dominantly West Sussex and East Surrey) and close working relationships, both clinically and in leadership, of the two organisations. Our ambition is to ensure that this translates into provision of excellent palliative care in the most appropriate setting for individual patients, in optimal continuity of care and in hospital admission avoidance where clinically appropriate. It may offer individual post-holders the opportunity to work between different settings or to rotate according to individual interests and the needs of each service.
We are looking for pro-active, positive, compassionate individuals to join our existing post-holders. Together we will form a cohesive group of 6 consultants in palliative medicine, all working within the same foot-print and all contributing to senior clinical leadership of our dynamic multi-disciplinary teams.
Main duties of the jobEach post holder will be primarily based in one of the two organisations - East Surrey Hospital (SASH) or St. Catherine's Hospice - and there will ensure the delivery of safe, effective, evidence-based and patient centred specialist palliative care. They will also be highly valued contributors to clinical governance, education and service development. Both contracts will be held by SASH with line management within the individual organisations. The Terms and Conditions are those of the NHS. Both are substantive WTE posts, although applications from LTFT candidates are welcome and will be considered.
For further information or to arrange an informal visit please contact:o Dr. Julia Fleming (Consultant and Medical Director, St Catherine's Hospice) or by telephone
o Dr. Lucy Harris (Consultant and Clinical Lead for Hospital Palliative Care Team, SASH) or by telephone ext. 2660
