Consultant in Paediatric Dermatology

This is a part-time (0.2 wte) substantive consultant post in the department of paediatric dermatology at Birmingham Children's Hospital. The post consists of 2 programmed activities per week: 1.5 PA of direct clinical care and 0.5 PA of supporting professional activities. There are currently no out of hours on call duties.
Responsibilities include general paediatric dermatology and specialist tertiary paediatric dermatology clinics, providing inpatient and outpatient services. General clinics see 8 follow up patients or 4 new and 4 follow up patients per session. On call support will be provided during the day for one day per week with time off in lieu where appropriate. The appointee will also participate in clinical governance, undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and current research within the department. Mentoring for newly appointed consultants is provided by the Children's Hospital.
Qualifications- Full GMC registration
- MRCP or equivalent
- UK CCT in dermatology or equivalent qualification
- Higher degree (MD, PhD, etc.)
- Broad experience of general dermatology
- Experience of paediatric dermatology
- Research and publications relevant to dermatology
- Clinical governance experience
- Teaching experience at all levels of clinical staff
- Ability to respond to and cope with change
- Ability to cope with pressure from unexpected/urgent clinical situations
- Ability to deliver service improvements
- Commitment to continuing professional development
- Use of evidence-based medicine
- Proficiency in the IT skills needed for a clinical role
- Attendance at a management training course
