Job Description

This is a substantive Consultant post in Community Paediatrics. It is a new position created as part of a service reconfiguration.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and motivated colleague to join our team of three established Consultants. The post holder will play an active role within our multidisciplinary team and in collaboration with fellow Consultants and the Clinical Director, the successful candidate will take on one of the lead roles required within the CCP.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and adaptable paediatrician and are very willing to discuss individual interests with potential applicants, with the aim of accommodating these wherever possible. Interests in Safeguarding, Neurodisability or Neurodevelopmental conditions Social Paediatrics(LAC/ Adoption ) would be welcomed.

Main duties of the job

Community Pediatric Team provides both secondary and specialist medical care for children in Bexley working closely with primary care teams, therapists, education, social services, voluntary sector and CAMHS to ensure that a fully comprehensive community pediatric service is provided to the population of Bexley.

This includes the management and delivery of the following components of service:

Neurodevelopment and Neurodisability

Autistic Spectrum Disorder Assessment and Diagnosis

ADHD assessment and Medication management

School Health Service

Safeguarding Children

Social Pediatrics- Services for Looked After Children and Medical Advisor for Adoption

The new Post holder will be a full member of the Joint Services for Children and Young People and will have the opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of the development and delivery of Child Health Services in Bexley. The service works in a multi-disciplinary, multi-agency context and teamwork is a key element of the role.

  • To offer professional advice to the CCG/Acute Trusts and Partner Agencies and to co-ordinate medical opinion in the best interests of the child
  • To provide advice to the Specialist Service Manager for Children & Young Peoples Directorate and to contribute to service planning, development and other relevant processes.

Person Specification GMC Registration
  • Must have full GMC registration
MBBS or equivalent
  • Must have MBBS or equivalent
CCT in Community Child Health or CCT in Paediatrics
  • CCT in Community Child Health or CCT in Paediatrics
On or eligible for entry on the GMC's Specialist Register for Paediatrics
  • On or eligible for entry on the GMC's Specialist Register for Paediatrics under article 14
