The Programme

We are currently supporting workforce planning for an anticipated Interventional PainInsourcing Programme, designed to increase specialist pain management capacity withinan established NHS service.

You will become part of a structured, clinically governed insourcing programme,supporting planned consultant-led pain management sessions whilst contributing to improved patient access and reduced waiting times.

We are seeking experienced Consultant Anaesthetists with specialist Pain Medicineexperience who are interested in supporting programme-based interventional pain services.

The programme is expected to focus on consultant-led interventional pain proceduresdelivered within planned clinical sessions.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Delivering consultant-led interventional pain management procedures
  • Undertaking specialist patient assessment where required
  • Performing appropriate interventional pain procedures within agreed clinical competencies
  • Providing immediate post-procedure care and clinical handover
  • Working within agreed clinical pathways, governance standards and local operational procedures
  • Collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care
  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and procedure records
  • Supporting efficient service delivery whilst maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and clinical care
What We're Looking For
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Anaesthesia
  • Post-CCT Consultant Anaesthetist status
  • Specialist training and experience in Pain Medicine
  • Current or recent NHS Consultant practice
  • Experience undertaking interventional pain procedures
  • Appropriate professional indemnity
  • Strong communication, multidisciplinary team working and professional standards
  • Ability to work within structured, session-based clinical delivery models
  • Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
Desirable Experience

We would particularly like to hear from consultants with experience in one or more of the following:

  • Nerve injections
  • Nerve blocks
  • Nerve ablation procedures
  • Consultant-led pain management clinics
  • Interventional pain services
  • Regular availability to support weekday, evening and/or weekend programme sessions
