Job Description
Consultant - Paediatrics W/I in Epilepsy

A formal job plan will be agreed upon between the successful candidate and the Clinical Director, in consultation with consultant colleagues and the Medical Director, based on departmental needs and the individual's strengths and interests, ensuring flexibility to recruit the best applicants.

Main duties of the job
  • Maintain the highest clinical standards in managing general paediatric and neonatal patients.
  • Share responsibility with colleagues for the daily management of the child health department.
  • Teach and train junior staff and medical students where applicable.
  • Ensure active participation in continuing medical education (CME).
  • Participate in departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and Audit.
  • Attend meetings as appropriate.
  • Fulfill duties as per weekly timetable, including out-of-hours responsibilities.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
  • Relevant CCT (in General Paediatrics) or equivalent (GMC confirmation required within 6 months of AAC)
  • MRCPCH accreditation
  • Higher degree or additional qualification (e.g., MD, MSc)
Experience
  • Clinical training and experience in paediatrics equivalent to UK CCT requirements
  • Ability to practice independently at a consultant level in paediatrics
  • Applicable SPIN modules depending on interests
