Managing Regulatory Outlook for Future EU Legislation in Product Development


Position Overview

We are looking for an EU Compliance Specialist to support Product Development by creating and maintaining a regulatory outlook focused on upcoming EU legislation. This outlook provides a critical foundation for product definition and long-term planning. Legal developments are monitored through active participation in working groups (e.g. EC/UNECE) and automotive industry associations (such as ACEA and RAI), and communicated across the organization through formal notifications.


Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the organization in discussions with automotive industry associations and (inter)national regulatory authorities regarding upcoming regulations.
  • Attend conferences, symposia, and related events to stay informed on future EU legislation affecting heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Develop regulatory forecasts to support product definition and multi-year product planning.
  • Inform internal stakeholders about legal changes by issuing formal Legal Notifications.
  • Analyze the impact of future regulations on current and upcoming vehicle programs, in collaboration with engineering and vehicle definition teams.
  • Coordinate the assignment of Legal Notifications to project scopes, working closely with project management.
  • Translate published EU legislation into actionable legal requirements for the organization.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with relevant external stakeholders, including regulatory and governmental bodies.


Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Solid understanding of the European automotive homologation process.
  • Experience in liaising with government agencies or type approval authorities.
  • Proactive and well-organized, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.


About the Department

The Standards & Homologation department is responsible for securing all necessary component, system, and vehicle type approvals required for global market access. It ensures that the company remains compliant with evolving legislation and adheres to internationally recognized technical standards (e.g., ISO, IEC, SAE, DIN). The team also supports engine certification processes for international partners and plays a vital role in product regulatory strategy and execution.
