Compliance Expert

Nexeo Belgium is looking for a Compliance Expert to support the execution of a strategic Compliance Action Plan within a leading financial institution. This long-term mission focuses on regulatory compliance in areas such as Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Conduct Risk, Consumer Protection, and cross-functional compliance initiatives.

Mission context

As a Compliance Expert, you will be responsible for implementing and following up on a comprehensive Compliance Action Plan approved by senior management and audit stakeholders. You will provide expertise in AML regulations and/or Consumer Protection matters, depending on your profile.

The role offers flexibility: either a full-time position combining both domains or a part-time assignment focusing on a specific area of compliance.

Function description

Regulatory compliance & advisory

• Execute key actions from the compliance roadmap and ensure timely delivery
• Act as a subject matter expert in AML and/or Consumer Protection regulations
• Provide guidance to business lines on compliance risks and regulatory changes
• Ensure adherence to internal policies and external legal frameworks

Monitoring, reporting & communication

• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for compliance monitoring
• Support compliance-related automation and AI initiatives
• Contribute to the design and rollout of internal training and awareness campaigns
• Promote a culture of compliance through structured communication

Cross-functional collaboration

• Coordinate with internal stakeholders including legal, risk, audit, and IT teams
• Participate in governance meetings and provide regular status updates
• Contribute to continuous improvement and efficiency across compliance processes

Working environment

• Dynamic and multicultural financial environment
• Hybrid setup: 50% on-site in Brussels (near Central Station) / 50% remote
• Occasional travel may be required

Your profile

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Economics, Finance, or equivalent

Languages

• Fluent in French, Dutch, and English (both written and spoken)

Experience

• Minimum 6 years of experience in compliance, with at least one domain of expertise:
• AML and Sanctions
• Consumer Protection / Conduct Risk
• Familiarity with compliance activities in the insurance or banking sector
• Experience in project-oriented compliance environments

IT Tools

• Proficient in MS Office
• Experience with compliance systems or reporting tools is a plus

• Strong analytical and advisory skills
• Structured, autonomous, and result-driven
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion
• Team player with a proactive mindset
