Community Staff Nurse 0-19 Health Visiting

We have fantastic full- or part-time opportunities for degree-educated registered nurses and midwives seeking a new challenge and career progression with an "outstanding" Trust. You will become a valuable member of the 0-19 Children and Young People service in Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a Registered Nurse in the 0-19 public health team, under the line management of the Health Visitor. Responsibilities include managing a delegated caseload, carrying out specific episodes of care and interventions for children, families, and carers, and working in partnership with the Multi-Disciplinary Team and other agencies to ensure high standards of care.

Job responsibilities

The post involves supporting delivery of 0-19 Universal Services, health promotion, managing workload, participating in safeguarding and health needs assessments, liaising with agencies, and delivering evidence-based interventions. The role emphasizes development and ongoing training within a supportive environment.

Your will be required to:

  • Support delivery of 0-19 Universal Services and the Healthy Child Programme
  • Assist junior staff and participate in health education and promotion activities
  • Manage your workload under supervision
  • Report incidents and participate in team meetings
  • Assess health needs, monitor child health, and involve carers in promoting health
  • Collaborate with statutory and voluntary agencies, maintaining good relationships and making referrals as appropriate
  • Follow safeguarding protocols, including action in cases of suspected child abuse
  • Undertake health needs assessments for Looked After Children
  • Assist in clinics, immunizations, developmental assessments, and health promotion activities
  • Participate in clinical supervision and be flexible with working hours

The post holder will:

  • Be a registered practitioner accountable for own actions, with current NMC registration
  • Communicate effectively to aid care planning
  • Manage workload and evaluate care regularly
Person Specification Qualifications and Training
  • RN/RMN/RSCN/RNLD
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Post-registration education and mentorship qualification
Experience
  • Commitment to multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Interest in public health and community nursing
  • Understanding of safeguarding and immunization training
  • Experience in community nursing and clinical governance
Disclosure and Barring Service Check

This position requires a DBS check in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975.

Salary: £29,970 to £36,483 per annum plus HCAS
