The Council is looking for a committed, driven team leader who will have operational leadership of the Community Safety Team. The team currently has a number of officers including those that tackle anti-social behaviour, rural crime and that deliver initiatives in reducing key priorities of the South Warwickshire Community Safety Partnership (CSP). The priorities of the CSP include tackling rural crime, acquisitive crime in rural areas, domestic abuse and sexual violence amongst others.
The successful candidate will demonstrate they can lead officers, can quickly build strong relationships within the team and with key partner agencies such as the police. They will thrive on working collaboratively to achieve positive outcomes for the Council. They will bring to life the operational delivery of key policies, action plans, and procedures, ensuring the Council is delivering proactive approaches and addressing any community safety challenges that arise. A flexible approach and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities is essential, as is the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities (Please see Job Description and Person Specification for more details)- To be responsible for the operational management of the Community Safety team.
- To manage, develop and train staff to ensure compliance with strategy, policies, procedures and legislation.
- To lead, motivate and appraise staff within the Community Safety team and contribute to the performance of the service through business planning mechanisms, performance review and team meeting processes.
- To ensure the efficient and effective use of resources.
- To deputise for the Community Safety Manager when necessary.
- To develop, coordinate and implement projects aimed at reducing crime & disorder, the causes of crime and anti-social behaviour and enhancing community safety in Stratford District.
- Experience of managing, coaching and motivating staff to ensure efficient and effective service delivery and performance.
- Experience of leading or working on joint projects or in partnerships
- Experience of working with crime reduction agencies and a good grasp of the key issues in crime reduction and community safety
- Experience of working with local crime reduction partners in the Warwickshire, including public, private, voluntary & community sectors.
- Effective use of problem-solving methodologies to implement the full lifecycle (identify, analyse, implement solutions and evaluate the impact)
- Proven project management skills
