Community Payback Supervisor - Birmingham

Overview

A career in community payback allows you to make a positive impact on the lives of people on probation and the wider community. You will supervise a group of offenders participating in unpaid work placements, often driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment. Working may include frequent weekends and occasional evenings. On a typical day you will spend up to seven hours supervising the group. The role pays a higher rate of 50% for weekend days you work, and offers annual pay progression through a competency based framework.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a small team of offenders during their unpaid work placement.
• Ensure that all tasks are completed to the best of the group's ability.
• Drive service vehicles as required to transport people or equipment.
• Maintain safety and wellbeing of the team, ensuring rest breaks and welfare support are provided even when the pace is high.
• Support offenders through effective communication and by demonstrating good practice.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Full UK Manual Driving Licence (automatic licence only is not accepted).
• Experience supervising groups of offenders or similar.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and occasional evenings.
• Right to work in the UK and comply with civil service immigration rules.

Working Arrangements

While the role requires presence on site for supervising work placements, hybrid working arrangements are discussed on a case by case basis, provided the role can be carried out from the UK.
