Communications Specialist Intern

12 Month Contract

Onsite - office base in Bracknell

Are you a talented communicator looking to kick-start your career in the dynamic world of corporate affairs? Our Life Sciences client is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Communications Specialist Intern to join their UK team.

As a Communications Specialist Intern, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of both internal and external communication activities across the organisation.

This is a hands-on opportunity to gain invaluable experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, contributing to campaigns, content creation, and stakeholder engagement.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in drafting and publishing engaging internal news, announcements, and newsletters, ensuring clarity, brand, tone, and consistency.
  • Supporting the coordination of internal events and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of external materials such as social media, reports, and press releases.
  • Work with agencies in the production, filming and editing of AV material and support the development of visual printed and online assets
  • Monitor political and policy developments through their monitoring platform (PQs, debates, select committees) to provide insightful briefing.
  • Maintain communication calendars and assist with scheduling and logistics.
  • Help manage photo and video content libraries and storage of physical communication assets.

Requirements

Education:

  • Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in Communications, Marketing, Media, Politics, Public Policy, International Relations, English, Science, Geography, or a related field.

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage ambiguity and changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft platforms (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and willing to learn.

Desirable:

  • Interest in science, politics and policy, corporate communications, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Awareness of UK political institutions and policy making process.
  • Familiarity with online media and social media platforms.
