Commis Chef

Contract: Full Time , Permanent

Hours: 40 per week

A co-educational independent school located in Colchester, Essex. Catering for 200 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of lunch and snack bar with a small amount of hospitality through the year. This is a term time only contract working 36 weeks a year and operates Monday to Friday.

We are looking for a talented Chef to join our team at one of our prestigious locations in Colchester.

You will be excited to work with fresh seasonal ingredients and regularly changing bespoke menus. You will be creative and have the opportunity to showcase your skillset.

Key responsibilities:

• Work well in a team, providing breakfast, lunch and hospitality
• Produce food for service using fresh ingredients, cooking from scratch and following the company's brand standards
• Ensure company food standards are adhered to and waste is controlled
• Follow all Food Hygiene, Health & Safety policies and allergen control procedures
• Experience of all kitchen aspects
• Great team player
• Handle all aspects of the kitchen including preparation, deliveries, cleaning, serving and washing up
• Working hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm - term time only (occasional event days required)

You will have the following skills and attributes:

• A genuine interest in food and excellent customer service

• An organised person with attention to detail
• Reasonable or good understanding and use of verbal English
• Reasonable or good standard of written English and reading skills
• Similar experience in a customer and/or food preparation environment is preferred
• Happy to undertake all kitchen aspects including deliveries, preparation, cleaning, serving and washing up
