Job Description
As Commercial Manager Biomethane you will secure a consistend biomethane supply at lowest costs and optimizes demand and quality through strategic trading activities.
Your responsibilities:
- Manage the supply of BASF's BMB platform through existing and to be extended biomethane contract portfolio, complemented by spot market transactions.
- Build and foster a robust network of suppliers and customers in key sustainability markets such as transportation, heating, and maritime, creating third-party outlets and new trading opportunities.
- Leverage BASF's quality and demand requirements to generate trades and deliver strong contributions to the P&L of the renewable and recycled commodity trading desk.
- Actively manage a biomethane trading book, including monitoring and mitigating associated risk exposure.
- Collaborate closely with sustainability and due diligence teams to ensure full compliance with governance and certification standards for all trades.
Your profile:
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline such as Business Administration, Business Information Systems, Banking, Sustainability, or Commodity Trading.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in procurement or trading. Experience within a multinational large corporation.
- Deep knowledge of biomethane markets, pricing mechanisms, regulation and certification systems (e.g., ISCC, REDcert).
- Proven expertise in negotiations and developing supply contract strategies.
- Familiar in managing supply to major corporates and maneuvering complex organizational structures and processes.
- Experience with sustainability governance and certification schemes (e.g., ISCC or comparable standards).
- High resilience under pressure, combined with excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills; ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all organizational levels; strong intercultural competence.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) is mandatory; German proficiency (written and spoken) is considered an advantage.
