Commercial Manager - Colchester

Balfour Beatty is recruiting a permanent Commercial Manager in Colchester for the Regional Civils team. The role supports the Bramford to Twinstead Network Reinforcement project and reports to the Head of Commercial and Area Commercial Director. Its remit extends across project commercial performance and contract administration.

Responsibilities include management of subcontractors, recovery of value and control of costs. The manager will monitor cash flow, margins and forecasts, assess commercial risks and address potential disputes. Consultant appointments, warranties and other contractual obligations fall within the role.

It also contributes to bids and tenders, carries out commercial audits and attends commercial and business reviews. The appointment includes leadership and development of commercial colleagues and compliance with company approval procedures. Applicants need senior commercial leadership experience in construction or civil engineering and a record of managing teams.

Experience on major infrastructure or civils schemes is required; utility or energy experience is advantageous. The posting requests a relevant degree or professional qualification and treats membership of RICS, CICES, CIOB or a comparable institution as desirable. Contract administration, negotiation and management of supply-chain relationships are required capabilities.
