Reporting to the Commercial Markets Director, we are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Product Owner with experience in the Commercial Insurance industry to support the design, delivery, adoption, and optimisation of technology solutions that enable Commercial Lines growth, profitability, operational excellence, and broker experience.
The Commercial Lines Transformation Roadmap is a strategic business and technology programme designed to modernise underwriting, broker engagement, pricing, policy administration, data, and operational processes across the Commercial Lines portfolio. As Product Owner, you will play a key role in delivering the roadmap by ensuring business priorities are translated into clear, deliverable technology outcomes that drive measurable value for the organisation.
The successful candidate will act as the primary Commercial Lines business representative, bridging business and technology teams to enable faster decision-making, reduce reliance on operational teams being diverted into project activities, and support more effective delivery of transformation initiatives.
This is a 12-month secondment/contractopportunity and will suit an individual who is passionate about business transformation, technology-enabled change, and improving outcomes for customers, brokers, and underwriters. The role provides a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Commercial Lines and contribute directly to one of the organisation's most significant strategic transformation programmes.
Key Responsibilities:- Define and maintain the vision, roadmap, and priorities for the Commercial Lines Technology Roadmap.
- Act as the primary Commercial Lines representative for transformation initiatives, ensuring business needs are clearly understood and reflected in delivery priorities.
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring features, enhancements, and technical requirements are prioritised according to business value, strategic objectives, risks, and dependencies.
- Work closely with business and technology teams to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and shape solutions that deliver measurable value.
- Support the delivery of roadmap initiatives across underwriting, broker engagement, pricing, policy administration, data, analytics, and automation capabilities.
- Provide clear direction to delivery teams, ensuring they understand business goals, priorities, and expected outcomes.
- Engage stakeholders regularly to gather feedback, align priorities, resolve issues, and maintain support for change initiatives.
- Monitor progress against agreed objectives, milestones, and benefits, providing clear and timely updates to stakeholders.
- Identify and manage risks, issues, dependencies, and delivery challenges, escalating and recommending mitigation actions where necessary.
- Support business case development and benefits realisation activities to ensure technology investments deliver expected outcomes.
- Champion customer, broker, and underwriter needs, ensuring solutions improve user experience and operational effectiveness.
- Lead business readiness, communication, and adoption activities to support successful implementation of new processes and technologies.
- Build strong relationships across Commercial Lines, Technology, Operations, and other business functions to foster collaboration and successful delivery.
- Act as a positive change leader, promoting innovation, continuous improvement, and new ways of working that support the Commercial Lines strategy.
- Relevant qualification in Business, Insurance, Technology, or a related discipline.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years' experience in Product Ownership, Business Analysis, Business Transformation, Commercial Insurance Operations, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of Commercial Lines insurance, underwriting processes, broker distribution, and policy administration.
- Experience working with business and technology teams to deliver change and improve business processes.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to analyse information, solve problems, prioritise competing demands, and make informed, data-driven decisions.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience working within Commercial Insurance or General Insurance.
- Experience delivering technology or transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of underwriting workbenches, CRM platforms, policy administration systems, broker portals, or data and analytics solutions.
- Experience supporting change programmes within a regulated environment.
- Strategic and commercially aware, with the ability to balance business priorities with long-term transformation objectives.
- Strong collaborator and influencer who can build relationships, align stakeholders, and drive consensus across diverse teams.
- Adaptable, resilient, and delivery-focused, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-changing environment and manage ambiguity with confidence.
If this role is defined as a "controlled function" by the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 Regulations 2011. Any appointment will be conditional on the company being satisfied that you meet the requirements as set out in the Fitness & Probity standards issued in this Act.
