LOCATION: This role can be based in London, Salford, Belfast or Glasgow - Hybrid working
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £55,000 - £65,000pa (plus London Weighting £5,441pa, if London based), depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

We are looking for a Commercial & Business Development Manager to work across Strategic Media Partnerships and Business Development opportunities. This is an exciting opportunity at a pivotal time for the BBC. You will be instrumental in helping the BBC to act strategically to get the best for audiences, and for the BBC Group as a whole, from our partners. You will be expected to help manage internal and external stakeholder relationships on behalf of the BBC Group, and generate new business development opportunities, supporting the senior manager who leads this area.

You'll engage with senior stakeholders across the BBC and externally, helping shape partnerships and business development deals that bring value to audiences and support the BBC's mission to inform, educate, and entertain with a distinctly British perspective
Your Key Responsibilities and ImpactAs a Commercial & Business Development Manager your key responsibilities will include:
- Strategic Partnerships: To support and enable strong, collaborative, strategic relationships with key media partners - balancing the areas where we can co-operate with those where we are in competition - including by maintaining a strong knowledge of partner businesses.
- Business development and analysis: To support the Senior Manager to work with BBC Studios and other divisions of the BBC to build and progress a pipeline of business development opportunities, including innovative and entrepreneurial solutions which maximise benefit to BBC audiences and/or deliver commercial returns to the BBC. To analyse opportunities, using market intelligence and other data and insights to advise on commerciality and group-wide impact, and to help to shape those proposals to achieve maximum benefit for the BBC Group.
- Negotiation and deal-making: To support senior managers in developing approaches to be deployed in key negotiations and, working with legal and other parts of the BBC, to deliver deals with partners which meet the BBC's objectives.
- Stakeholder management: To positively represent the BBC with authority, credibility, tact and diplomacy, and proactively foster collaborative, creative and commercial relationships at senior level - both with external partners and internally across the BBC Group (including BBC Studios).
- Compliance: To ensure that standards and frameworks are adhered to and translated into compliant individual deals within a coherent pan-BBC approach. To ensure all commercial activity is consistent with BBC Fair Trading policy and regulatory requirements.
- Project management: To lead and/or contribute to complex cross-cutting strategic projects and partnerships through to effective delivery.
We are looking for someone who can get to grips with complex subjects and sectors quickly, is keen to build relationships and driven to persevere with challenging projects.
- Deep media industry knowledge, including the UK public service broadcasting media ecology and major international media groups.
- Relevant experience in a business development, partnerships or strategy role, able to demonstrate sound analytical, business and financial skills.
- Expert verbal and written communicator, possess strong influencing skills, be confident advising senior leaders and be able to present complex issues and arguments in ways that are accessible to everyone. A natural relationship builder, able to foster trust and collaboration across diverse teams and external partners.
- Proactive mindset and able to handle difficult (commercial, financial or organisational) negotiations, balancing trade-offs and developing imaginative solutions to achieve the best results for audiences and the BBC Group.
- Ability to operate within an environment of rapid change and uncertainty and be sensitive to the aims of the BBC and its unique obligations as a public service broadcaster.
- Collaborative and inclusive team player. Resourceful - in order to harness the input of teams and individuals from around the BBC - and highly motivated to move beyond strategy and planning into action.
- Experience of compiling strategic analysis and writing executive briefing documents
- Familiarity with BBC rights policies, content strategies, and how the BBC's commercial operations-including BBC Studios-integrate with editorial and audience objectives.
