COBOL Mainframe Developer/Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a Mainframe Developer with expertise in COBOL and Procobol to join a dynamic team working on mission-critical applications in the public sector. You will be responsible for both maintaining existing systems and developing new modules, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct technical analysis and develop structured solutions in COBOL/Procobol.
• Maintain and enhance legacy systems while contributing to modernization efforts.
• Collaborate with functional analysts to validate test execution and ensure program quality.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, identify root causes, and implement fixes.
• Write clear and comprehensive technical documentation.
• Supervise and support junior developers and ensure compliance with technical standards.

Your Profile

• Experience: 10+ years in mainframe environments, including modernization, integration, and migration projects.
• Sectors: Experience in public sector, banking, or insurance is a plus.
• Strengths: Strong problem-solving skills, proactive mindset, and ability to manage complex tasks independently.

Technical Skills

• COBOL / Procobol / Visual COBOL - Expert level
• Unix/Linux (incl. Solaris) - System scripting, job automation, and file management
• Oracle DBMS / SQL / PL-SQL - Data integration, performance tuning, and reporting
• Unix Shell Scripting - Cron jobs, automation scripts, batch processing
• Complex Task Management - Kanban, ticketing systems, and prioritization under pressure
• Proactive Communication - Risk management, progress reporting, and stakeholder alignment

Languages

• French: Fluent (spoken and written)
• Dutch: Active working knowledge
• English: Passive (reading and understanding documentation)
