The Role & Impact

The EU Data Act mandates the removal of cloud-switching barriers. The client is the designated authority enforcing compliance across Europe's Data Processing industry.

As a Data Act Cloud Engineer, you will provide vital technical support to a newly formed team managing market investigations, compliance testing, and industry disputes.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Analysis: Provide cloud engineering insights for market investigations, customer complaints, and regulatory policy papers.
• Tool Development: Develop and implement technical infrastructure, automated tools, and testing systems to monitor regulatory compliance.
• Compliance Investigation: Audit regulated entities against Data Act interoperability and cloud-switching standards.
• Engagement: Contribute to briefing papers and present technical evidence to government departments, industry bodies, and EU regulators.

Essential Criteria

• Education: 3rd level qualification (NFQ Level 7/8) in Cloud Services, Engineering, or a directly relevant STEM discipline.
• Experience: 3+ years of operational experience managing cloud workloads, specifically managing core Azure services (AKS, Virtual WAN, Cosmos DB, Entra ID).
• Multi-Cloud: Working knowledge or hands-on experience with GCP core services.
• Containers & IaC: Practical experience packaging applications with Docker, deploying to Kubernetes, and foundational knowledge of Terraform.
• Automation & Architecture: Experience with scripted automation, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps), and setup/administration of local open-source clouds (eg, OpenStack).
• Communication: Strong technical drafting and communication skills for internal and external reports.
• Previous experience in a regulated industry or public sector compliance environment.
• Familiarity with custom computing platforms, hardware accelerators, and AI workloads.
• Professional certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate or Google Cloud Certified Associate Cloud Engineer.
