Clinical/Counselling Psychologist - Adult Autism Service

Acting as a senior clinician within NELFT Adult Autism Service providing specialist diagnostic autism assessment, advice, and consultation to other service providers.
Providing specialist post intervention services to individuals referred to the Adult Autism Service.
Main dutiesTo be responsible for organising and prioritising own and others workload in the day-to-day allocation of work.
To deputise when required in the team manager's absence.
To have organisational knowledge relating to Trust protocols and procedures and adhere to them.
To be responsible for providing accurate records of information required by the Trust for audit purposes.
To ensure effective risk management at team level by accident/incident reporting, assessing risk and ensuring they are added to the Trust register when appropriate.

Starting with Us
NELFT places great importance on new starters being properly welcomed into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks, including mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will also have the opportunity to meet the executive team, senior managers, and attend several drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing, and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,714 to a maximum of £5,941p.a. pro rata for part time).

Job responsibilitiesActing as a senior clinician within NELFT Adult Autism Service providing specialist diagnostic autism assessment, advice, and consultation to other service providers.
Providing specialist post intervention services to individuals referred to the Adult Autism Service.
Providing comprehensive mental health needs and risk assessments of clients within the Adult Autism Service.
Providing consultation and liaison to other professionals working with individuals with autism in the Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge, and Waltham Forest localities, both community and in-patient based.
Delivering specialist training across different tiers of service and within the wider professional network
Contributing to the operational management of the NELFT Adult Autism Service
Managing the work of specialist autism clinics for community and inpatient services.
Developing, with others in the NELFT Adult Autism Service, audit and evaluative measures to record outcomes of the service.
Supervising qualified practitioners, assistants / trainees, and students within the service.
Providing specialist consultation and training to a variety of professionals across different tiers of mental health service and external agencies such as local authorities and the third sector.

Person Specification Qualifications- Doctorate qualification in psychology (Clinical or Counselling) or equivalent accredited by the British Psychological Society
- HCPC registered Clinical or Counselling Psychologist
- Qualification in one or more modality of psychology
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development as required by the British Psychological Society
- Recognised qualification and/or training in supervision
- Substantial recent post - qualification experience in a designated post within services for autism, cognitive disorders or other relevant service area
- Knowledge and experience with working with safeguarding issues, issues concerning risk and highly complex mental health problems
- Experience of delivering specialist consultation / training to a variety of audiences
- A highly developed awareness of a wide range of mental health interventions and theories and their practical application to autism
- Well-developed knowledge and skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management
- Up-to-date knowledge of strategic frameworks and relevant legislation
