Dietetic Therapy Lead - Broomfield Hospital

We are delighted to invite applications for the role of Dietetic Therapy Lead at Broomfield Hospital. With our current post-holder retiring, we are seeking a passionate and forward thinking dietitian to guide the service into its next chapter.

As the clinical and site lead for the Adult Dietetic Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping, coordinating, and delivering high quality dietetic services across Mid Essex. This includes day to day operational, managerial, and professional leadership, alongside responsibility for driving service development to ensure our provision remains innovative, effective, and aligned with Trust priorities.

You will act as an expert Dietetic Practitioner, providing specialist clinical leadership and serving as an essential resource for colleagues when managing complex or urgent cases. Your expertise will support consistent, safe, and excellent patient care, and you will influence the continued transformation of services to meet the needs of our population now and in the future.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, motivated dietitian with strong leadership skills and a commitment to service improvement.

While this post is advertised as full time, we welcome applications from candidates seeking a minimum of 30 hours per week across four days.

Main duties of the job
  • Directly manage and provide excellent leadership to the Dietetic Team.
  • Effectively manage a delegated budget within set resources, working towards releasing efficiency savings through robust management and continuous service re design opportunities.
  • Develop effective relationships with all agencies to improve patient pathways.
  • Be responsible for the implementation of new roles and ways of working against set aims, modernising services and supporting innovation.
  • Involved in the monitoring of therapy activity and liaise with relevant divisional managers to effect changes to operational services in partnership with other teams so that the service is flexible and responsive to meet the needs of the hospital and patients.
  • Be responsible for the quality standards within the Dietetic Team and implement an effective service through attendance and contribution at both internal and external strategy groups.
  • Demonstrate improvements in operational services through robust internal monitoring systems.
  • Lead audit activity in all aspects of care.
  • Contribute and engage with the MSE Therapies strategy and other projects which may contribute to this.
  • Work closely with the Dietetic Leads at other sites to ensure parity of service and shared knowledge and skills.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Postgraduate qualification in management or willingness to work towards it.
Knowledge
  • Robust understanding of all aspects of clinical governance including previous experience of quality issues, audit, and risk management.
Experience
  • Relevant postgraduate experience of managing a clinical caseload.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Experience of planning and implementing service developments.
  • Relevant experience of managing a department/service.
  • Experience of managing integrated teams.
