The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist to join our team and lead the management of complex musculoskeletal presentations while helping shape the next generation of clinicians.
This role extends beyond traditional physiotherapy. The successful candidate will be responsible for clinical excellence, mentorship, rehabilitation pathway development, and helping drive our philosophy of objective, outcome-focused care throughout the organisation.
You will work with a varied caseload of complex musculoskeletal, sporting, post operative, and persistent pain presentations while supporting patients through every stage of recovery-from diagnosis and pain reduction to rehabilitation and performance.
Clinical Leadership- Manage complex musculoskeletal and sporting injury presentations independently.
- Deliver clear diagnoses, prognosis, and rehabilitation roadmaps.
- Act as the clinic's senior clinical resource for complex or non responding cases.
- Support clinicians with clinical reasoning, decision making, and case management.
- Identify and appropriately manage clinical risk, including timely referral where required.
- Maintain exceptional clinical documentation and professional standards.
- Design and oversee evidence based rehabilitation programmes.
- Utilise objective testing and outcome measures to guide decision making.
- Integrate strength, conditioning, movement analysis, and performance principles into patient care.
- Lead return to running, return to sport, and return to performance pathways.
- Collaborate closely with physiotherapists, rehab coaches, and performance staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Use measurable criteria to determine progression through rehabilitation stages.
- Mentor physiotherapists, athletic therapists, and rehabilitation coaches.
- Support onboarding and clinical competency development.
- Lead clinical education sessions, case reviews, and professional development workshops.
- Help develop and maintain clinical frameworks, standards, and treatment pathways.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, coaching, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of rehabilitation, performance, and specialist services.
- Support clinical audits, outcome tracking, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in the implementation of objective testing systems and clinical performance metrics.
- Work collaboratively to enhance the patient journey and overall clinic experience.
- CORU registered Physiotherapist.
- Master's degree in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy or equivalent advanced clinical qualification.
- Minimum 7 years postgraduate clinical experience.
- Extensive experience managing complex musculoskeletal and sporting injury presentations.
- Strong clinical reasoning and differential diagnostic skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence based practice.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring abilities.
- Experience working independently within an advanced clinical role.
- Passion for rehabilitation, exercise based therapy, and patient education.
- Clinical Specialist experience or equivalent senior MSK experience.
- Experience in sports rehabilitation and return to play management.
- Strength & Conditioning qualifications or experience working within performance environments.
- Experience using objective testing systems (VALD, force platforms, dynamometry, etc.).
- Experience teaching, mentoring, or supervising clinicians.
- Training in dry needling, acupuncture, injection therapy, or other relevant postgraduate qualifications.
- Experience contributing to service development and clinical governance projects.
