Clinical Research Practitioner / Nurse

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Research Nurse or Clinical Research Practitioner at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, supported through the NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), to work on the Imperial Health Knowledge Bank (IHKB) and BRC NIHR BioResource projects.
IHKB is designed to become a rich and comprehensive resource of bio samples and longitudinal clinical data, and to offer our patients an opportunity to participate in clinical research.
The role is patient facing, working across all 3 Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust sites.
The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills, a confident and flexible attitude with the ability to work autonomously.
Experience of working in research within an NHS setting is desirable but not essential for this role, provided the candidates can display a strong passion to work in clinical research.
Main duties of the job- You will support the aims of the Trust and the NIHR clinical research network to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research in the NHS.
- You will support the co-ordination and management of Imperial Health Knowledge Bank (IHKB) and NIHR BioResource, collaborating with key personnel throughout the trust and clinical research network.
- The main focus of the role will be in supporting the delivery of IHKB and NIHR BioResource, through identification of suitable participants, co-ordination, active recruitment and maintenance of study documentation.
- The post holder will ensure that any research undertaken safeguards the well-being of research participants and is conducted to ICH Good Clinical Practice.
- The post holder will take responsibility for the delivery of the clinical research that reflects the patient population, the work and interests of the local clinical teams. They will work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team and act as a professional role model.

Person Specification Education/ Qualifications- Health professional registration or first degree in life sciences
- Experience of working in an NHS based environment with service user contact
- Knowledge of National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), its values, aims and structure
- Knowledge of Clinical research environment
- Experience in managing complex information
- Competent in storing and retrieving electronic data
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Relevant clinical experience within research
- Ability to acquire In-depth knowledge of clinical research methodology and trial protocols and to communicate this to professionals and lay persons
- Good IT skills; to include competence in word processing and data entry systems
- Proven ability to work effectively as a team member as well as working alone
