Clinical Research Nurse

Responsibilities
  • The post holder will be responsible for the co ordination and management of a research portfolio of interventional clinical trials focusing mainly on early phase trials.
  • The post holder will work collaboratively with the research teams and wider multidisciplinary team in the management of their own caseload of clinical trial patients and be accountable for the achievement of local and national targets in relation to the service.
  • Facilitate study set up; identify suitable patients through MDTs and screening notes; collect data; recruit patients; ensure patient safety; support and monitor patients; and enter data. The post holder will also provide patients with advice, information and act as their advocate so they can make informed choices about clinical trial participation.
  • The post holder must be prepared to work across different clinical specialties, within the scope of their qualifications, as service needs require.
  • The post holder will be responsible for checking, preparing, and administering the Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) in accordance with the study protocol and the specified route of administration.
  • Ensure accurate data collection, participant safety, and excellent clinical care in close collaboration with Principal Investigators and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain clinical skills and competencies in line with professional regulatory requirements and Trust policies.
Main Duties of the Job
  • An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Clinical Research Nurse to join our friendly team.
  • The post holder must be a registered nurse with previous research experience, able to work autonomously and take delegated responsibility for clinical decision making while working closely with investigators and multidisciplinary staff.
  • Play a key role in the delivery of clinical research at St. George's Hospital, developing and creating robust systems and processes to enable clinical research to run smoothly, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
  • Advocate for patients, providing clear information and support to enable informed decision making regarding participation in research studies.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training
  • Educated to diploma/degree level in Nursing or a relevant area.
  • Good Clinical Practice knowledge or willingness to be trained.
  • Previous experience in clinical trial delivery.
Experience
  • Previous experience in audit and evaluation.
  • Experience of explaining complex concepts to patients in a clear and simplified manner.
  • Experience in Respiratory, Infectious Diseases, or Endocrinology.
Skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal & management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload.
  • Working well as part of a team from different areas.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
Knowledge
  • Understanding of clinical research and treatment protocols or participation in basic clinical or nursing research.
Other
  • Motivated & demonstrates enthusiasm for the clinical speciality.
