Applications are invited for a Clinical Research Fellow post which is available for 11.5 months. This post is a new appointment and is full-time, at the Sutton sites. It has been designed to manages children and young people with tumours of the Central Nervous System (CNS) aged between 1 and 24 years and to support research within the Drug Development Unit.


The Paediatric & AYA Neuro-Oncology Unit is one of the largest in the UK working in partnership with the Neurosurgical Units of St George's Hospital and King's College Hospital jointly treating 80-90 new cases of CNS tumours per year

Main duties of the job

The post will be based in the Paediatric Research Unit which operates at the Sutton site of the Royal Marsden Hospital. In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration.

Person specification Qualifications
  • Eligible for full GMC Registration
  • Membership of RCPCh
  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support or equivalent certificate
  • Higher Medical or Surgical Degree
Experience
  • Broad-based experience in Paediatrics and Paediatric Oncology
  • Previous research experience - clinical or laboratory
  • Experience in CNS tumours at a general Paediatric Oncology level
  • Previous clinical/research publications
  • Experience in medical audit

Flu Vaccination - What We Expect of our Staff

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
