An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join our team. We are an Adult Learning Disability Community Service within Rotherham Doncaster & South Humber NHS Foundation Trust and based in Rotherham.
The post is offered as a preceptorship opportunity or at an 8A.
The service provides a high-quality person-centred service for people with learning disabilities across the full spectrum who may also experience comorbid mental health difficulties, distress behaviour and/or autism. The service offers a full multidisciplinary approach and this post will be integral to the team.
This post will offer a varied experience that will provide robust continuing professional development through clinical supervision, reflective practice and training opportunities.
Suitable candidates should be HCPC registered and have a determination to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities and their families. Prior experience in working with people with learning disabilities and their families is essential. Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well with this clinical group is essential.
The successful applicant will be managed by and offered clinical supervision from the Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the service.
Main duties of the jobThe psychologist will demonstrate passion for working with people with a learning disability and will be an effective communicator and be able to work effectively as part of wider multidisciplinary team.
The successful applicant will be required to work into the multi-disciplinary team providing a range of assessment and intervention work through established and well governed clinical pathways. A key part of the role will be supporting and embedding formulation within the service and support colleagues to understand and use formulation to effectively plan clinical interventions.
There will be an expectation that the post holder will complete psychological assessments, formulations and intervention across a number of pathways, including eligibility for service, growing old with a learning disability, autism and individual therapy. They will be expected to work at a systemic level as well as an individual level and have a willingness to support the learning of others in the team through teaching and training.

Person Specification Qualifications- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology as accredited by the BPS
- HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (upon qualification)
- Trained in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral trainees (Essential at Band 8a)
- Experience in the designated clinical specialism
- Liaison and joint working with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies
- Research and development
- Active participation in quality and service improvement initiatives
- Commitment to multidisciplinary working
- Working as an applied psychologist within the designated service including a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and a range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings (8a).
- Exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care as a care coordinator and leader of a multidisciplinary team (Essential at Band 8a)
- Teaching, training, clinical supervision (Essential at Band 8a)
- Demonstrate further specialist training/experience working as a specialist clinical psychologist (desirable at Band 7).
- Evidence-based practice relevant to the role
- Risk assessment and risk management
- Clinical governance
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health and its implications for clinical practice
- Audit and research methodology
- Knowledge of the Trust's Quality Improvement System
