Job overviewThe John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford seeks a Lead Clinical Perfusion Scientist - Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) Services. As the autonomous lead, you will design, cost, and implement robust MCS programs in collaboration with the cardiogenic shock multidisciplinary team (MDT). This role is pivotal in shaping high-acuity cardiac care across the Trust and region.

Main duties of the jobPrimary Responsibilities:
- MCS Programme Development: Lead design, costing, and implementation of sustainable MCS programs, collaborating with the MDT.
- Policy & Initiative Evaluation: Assess impact of standards, initiatives, and legislation; drive policy development and ensure compliance.
- Strategic Service Leadership: Act as the lead for MCS provision, explore future developments, and ensure training of clinical perfusion scientists.
- Competency Development: Create and deploy a perfusion competency framework for safe MCS management.
- Expert Clinical Practice & Training: Demonstrate advanced knowledge, support education, and inform care strategies with evidence-based practice.
- Protocol Management: Lead development, review, and update of clinical protocols and procedures.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesYou will lead organizational efforts, working closely with clinical and deputy leads, theatre managers, and other clinical leaders to manage and develop cardiac support programs, including ECMO. The role involves clinical and managerial responsibilities, including providing 24/7 cardiopulmonary bypass support as part of a team.
Person specification Experience- At least 5 years post-qualification experience with Mechanical Circulatory Support.
