Job overview
A unique opportunity has arisen for Clinical Manager in Kingston Community Services to cover maternity leave. The Clinical Manager is one of the Borough Leadership quartet and as such, works closely with the Clinical Service lead, Borough Associate Clinical Director and lead for Psychology and Psychotherapy, to ensure delivery of high quality, safe and effective services that provide positive experience outcomes for service users, carers and staff.

The post holder will take a lead role in partnering borough stakeholders within the wider health and social care environment.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working within the community mental health setting with strong people skills and change management experience.

Interviews are expected to take place on 4 September, 2025.

Main duties of the job
The post holder is expected to clinically and operationally lead and manage the delivery of high-quality services in a defined area, within available resources and in line with the Trusts governance framework.

To ensure the quality of clinical care within their defined areas

At all times to role model effectiveness working with colleagues, holding self and colleagues to account appropriately and demonstrating personal commitment to the delivery of high-quality services.

To be accessible in order to lead and promote quality and to empower and enable staff/teams to develop and maintain their skills and competencies in order to retain a sustainable workforce.

To promote evidence-based practice, including Identify risks and take corrective action in line with the trusts integrated governance framework, including responding to Serious Incidents (SIs), Incidents, complaints and communications, ensuring timely and thorough investigation, disseminating recommendation and monitoring that actions are fully implemented.

To take a key role, by actively contributing, in the planning and delivery of the business objectives, service plans and change projects, ensuring customer focus, consistency, quality, and cost effectiveness.

Contribute to external groups and specific projects and work streams as required within the local health and social care community.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Corporate

Achieve a defined set of health and social care performance targets, in accordance with contractual requirements and the performance framework for NHSI, the Care Quality Commission, and other relevant statutory and professional bodies.

In conjunction with the Nursing Directorate, the post holder will advise Senior Managers and Clinical Directors on professional and practice issues. Under the direction of the Nursing Directorate, the post holder will lead on the provision of professional advice to colleagues at all levels across the Trust in relation to specific clinical matters and practice

Promote, through personal actions, support for the Trust's key policies on Equality and Diversity, and use of the recovery-orientated approach for people with mental health needs.

Service Improvement
Be responsible for assisting in the development of services to ensure that needs are assessed, standards of quality and performance are set, implemented, monitored and evaluated for all parts of the service.

Accountable for implementation and leading on service development actions that arise in this context, taking account of the needs of the relevant local communities, striving at all times to promote personalised care, wellbeing, safety and social inclusion and to ensure that service users and carers are actively included in the development of services.

Staff Leadership and Management
Be responsible for a workforce of multi-disciplinary clinical and non-clinical staff and in doing so role model and provide effective leadership and management to all staff and promote an effective team ethos.

Promote high-performance standards both individually and as a team in the achievement of the Trust's objectives and priorities.

Training & Qualifications
  • Registered Clinical - must hold a valid Registration with a professional body.
  • Educated to Masters Degree(MSc)level qualification or professional/clinical equivalent
  • Recent management related training or senior managerial professional qualification
  • Significant management and or leadership training
Experience
  • In depth current post registration clinical experience within a wide range of clinical specialities
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise across a number of areas e.g. clinical, infection control, nutrition, safeguarding
  • Significant professional leadership, especially professional development, clinical governance and supervision and appraisal
  • Experience of managing multidisciplinary teams in a health environment
  • Experience of quality improvement projects
Knowledge & Skills
  • Understanding of best practice in inpatient and community care settings and the benefits and challenges of joint working between social services and health
  • Ability to demonstrate budget management skills including financial planning and management of CIPs
  • Evidence of managing high-risk situations effectively
  • To have the ability to deliver complex and difficult messages in a manner that is clear and delivered in line with the Trst Values
  • Knowledge of Human Resources and Workforce policy and procedure that supports the development and the performance of their team
