Clinical Counselling Psychologist
Posted 4 hours 14 minutes ago by NHS National Services Scotland
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Esteem Glasgow is an Early Intervention for Psychosis service providing multidisciplinary care for young people (16-35 years old) experiencing a first episode of psychosis, and their families. The service aims to promote a vision of recovery as indicated by:- maximizing levels of engagement, maximising contact with families and carers, minimising psychotic symptoms, service users spending less time in hospital with less use of the mental health act, fewer incidents of self-harm, increased user and carer satisfaction, increased number and range of interventions and improved social functioning. All of which aims to reduce stigma and support service users in regaining access to valued activities and a healthy recovery.
The post holder will join an experienced group of psychologists in a motivated and busy multi-disciplinary service which has 4 MDT's across GG&C. This post is a fantastic opportunity to provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for young people with early psychosis and their families and to contribute to effective multidisciplinary working and service development. In addition to the post holders own direct clinical caseload, the role includes joint working with other disciplines, contributing to team assessments, leading MDT formulations, attendance at Family and Friends events, as well as supervision, research, teaching and service development contributions.
The post holders will be managed and supervised by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist in their team base. They will enjoy good professional support as a member of Esteem but will also benefit from a strong professional support network in NHS GG&C. The service has close links with the University of Glasgow Department of Mental Health & Wellbeing including provision of teaching and placements for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology Course. The service is currently involved in supporting national Early Intervention Psychosis service developments and there will be opportunities to get involved in this work.
The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
Interview dates will be confirmed in due course.
Any informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Nathan O'Neill, Consultant Clinical Psychologist ().
