What you'll do
  • With minimal guidance of senior staff,processes, analyzes and interprets data from omics studies for assets in theclinical portfolio, to refine understanding of biological mechanisms, diseasepathobiology, characterise treatment effect, safety signals and other relevantinsights.
  • Develops approaches, methods, analysispipelines utilizing state-of-the-art tools and technologies to enable theabove.
  • Documents code, analyses and ensurereproducibility of results according to best practices suited to patient-leveldata
  • Draft reports detailing methods and resultsthat require minimal revision. Drafts /contributes to scientific publications that present the results of theseanalyses (conference abstracts/presentations and manuscripts).
Requirements
  • Master/PhD with atleast 5 years of experience, preferably with industry experience.
  • Expertise in pre-processing, integration andanalysis of different omics data types, in particular extensive experienceanalysing large bulk and single-cell RNAseq datasets from complex studies, and experiencederiving relevant biological insights from these. Experience with spatial data, epigenomics and proteomics is an advantage.
  • Expertise in the development and applicationof methods pertinent for functional interpretation of omics data e.g. pathwayenrichment, functional module detection, causal reasoning.
  • Experienceanalyzing and deriving insights using large omics datasets from clinical trialsand relating omics data results to clinical variables is a plus.
  • Excellent computational skills, such as experienceof operating in a HPC Unix environment, cloud-based computational and/orpipelining platforms, and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) forreproducible and portable bioinformatics workflows. Experience using DNAnexusis a plus.
  • Proficiency using R in particular, and alsoother programming languages common to the bioinformatics community. Ability to documentcode and follow coding best practices, in particular suited to patient-leveldata, to ensure reproducibility of results.
  • Good understanding of statistics, datamining, and visualization of biological data types and the standard tools usedin these domains.
  • Ability to interpret and communicateefficiently (orally and with reports) the outcomes of analytical work to bothexpert and non-expert scientific audience to foster efficient decision-making. Preferably experience in authoring scientific publications.
