Description

PAW Associates is working with a friendly and inclusive accounting practice that specialises in providing virtual finance department services based in the heart of Uckfield, East Sussex. They are seeking an experienced bookkeeper or accountant to take on the role of Client Onboarding Manager to join the dynamic bookkeeping and accounting team.

This is a key client-facing role designed to make sure every new client's first experience with the practice is smooth, efficient, and stress-free. You'll guide clients through their first few months with the firm-setting up systems, streamlining processes, and ensuring their records are accurate and complete before handing them over to your colleagues in the bookkeeping team.

As the Client Onboarding Manager, your responsibilities will include being the main point of contact for new clients during their onboarding journey, collecting and organising client information, setting up of the client's tax agent with HMRC with authorisations, implement accounting systems (Xero, QuickBooks, etc) Train clients on new software and hand hold, manage seamless handover to the bookkeeping team etc.

Client Onboarding Manager duties

AAT Level 4 qualification (or higher) in bookkeeping or accounting.

  • Strong experience in bookkeeping or client management within a practice setting.
  • Solid understanding of VAT, bookkeeping and HMRC compliance.
  • Confident communicator with excellent attention to detail.
  • Passion for technology and automation tools (eg, Xero, Auto Entry, QuickBooks).
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple onboarding projects at once.
  • Confident working directly with clients

What you'll do:

  • Be the main point of contact for new clients during their onboarding journey.
  • Collect and organise client information and documentation.
  • Set us up as the client's tax agent with HMRC and manage authorisations.
  • Bring the client's bookkeeping up to date and ensure records are accurate.
  • Implement and optimise accounting systems and workflows (Xero, QuickBooks, etc.).
  • Train clients on new software and help them feel confident with their systems.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and boost efficiency.
  • Support existing clients through system changes or transitions.
  • Ensure a seamless handover to our bookkeeping team once onboarding is complete.
