Job Description

We are currently seeking a professional Clerk of Works service to the Estates Division for our client. This is a contract role for 12 month but could be longer. Based on site in Culham, Oxfordshire.

Make regular visits on site. Attend daily site meetings and advise the contract project manager of difficulties.

Make recommendations both orally and in writing about any aspect of the works including which does not conform with the plans, specifications or schedules of works or other documentation that might be unsatisfactory for any other reasons of designs, work or cost.

Refer recommendations to the contract project manager for a decision on further instruction.

Continuously monitor work on site in accordance with the contractors method statements and the construction health and safety plan and endeavor to ensure the safety of all persons affected by the works. Promptly raise UNORs where breaches are identified and inform the project manager for further actions.

Maintain a daily diary of numbers of contactors on site, their activities, weather conditions, temperatures, quality issues, safety observations. Log issues and actions. Issue weekly reports to contract project manager.

Examine all contract documents and drawings on individual projects for discrepancies. Attend pre contract meetings.

Monitor that progress is maintained according to the construction programme and advise on any likely cause for delay.

Ensure that schedules on defects after handover are maintained and that they are rectified before the expiration of the defects liability period.

Where approval samples are available, compare work against samples and ensure it consistent with the agreed quality standard. Ensure quality plans are followed and signed off at the requisite points witnessing activities as necessary. Working in collaboration with site stakeholders to facilitate the timely provision of requisite permits, inspections and approvals.

Prepare and attend snagging inspections and advise the project manager prior to the issue of certificate of practical completion.

To undertake site visits and ladder assessments.
