About The Role:

Location: BN1 9QU

Days of Working: 17:30 to 02:15am, with a 45-minute unpaid break, Monday - Friday

Sussex Estates and Facilities (SEF) is recruiting a Cleaning Supervisor to lead a team of academic cleaning operatives. The role involves ensuring cleaning services are delivered to contract standards, supporting staff development, and maintaining high levels of customer service for students, staff, and visitors. The supervisor will work closely with the Cleaning Manager and Coordinator to manage daily operations and uphold SEF policies and procedures.

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise a team of academic cleaners, ensuring scheduled cleaning is delivered to BICSc standards and staff are supported and managed effectively.
  • Recruit, train, and develop cleaning staff and oversee inductions, ongoing training, and performance development.
  • Conduct audits and monitor performance and provide feedback and take corrective action where necessary.
  • Manage cleaning materials and stock and ensure timely ordering and proper usage of supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and operational procedures by promoting safe working practices and adherence to company policies.
Eligibility Criteria

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Must have Right to Work in the UK.
  • A DBS will be completed for the successful candidate.
  • Experience managing a team of cleaners to meet contract standards (proven leadership in a cleaning or facilities environment).
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements and COSHH
  • Ability to coach, motivate, and influence staff
    Strong communication and written skills for effective reporting, staff engagement, and issue resolution.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and a strong work ethic.
