Type of Employment: Part time
Hours: 32 per week
Salary: £21,981.87 per annum
Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off 12pm -9.30pm
Location: Cumberland Infirmary, Newtown Road, Carlisle, Cumbria, England, CA2 7HY

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Cleaning Supervisor to join our Facilities team within a busy hospital environment. This is a key role responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, ensuring compliance with infection control requirements, and supporting a team of domestic staff to deliver a safe, hygienic environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day to day operations of the domestic team across allocated hospital areas.
  • Carry out regular cleaning audits, ensuring all standards are met and corrective actions are completed promptly.
  • Provide hands on supervision, guidance, and support to domestic staff, ensuring consistent service delivery.
  • Authorise and manage staff holidays, sickness, and rota adjustments to maintain adequate staffing levels.
  • Deliver on the spot training and refresher sessions to ensure correct cleaning techniques and compliance with infection control procedures.
  • Monitor performance, conduct one to one reviews, and support staff development.
  • Liaise with clinical teams, ward managers, and Facilities leadership to resolve issues and maintain excellent communication.
  • Ensure all equipment, materials, and cleaning products are used safely and in line with COSHH regulations.
  • Respond promptly to any concerns or incidents relating to cleanliness or service standards.
  • Support the implementation of new processes, audits, and service improvements.
We are looking for someone who is:
  • Experienced in supervising domestic or cleaning teams, ideally within a healthcare or similar high standards environment.
  • Confident in carrying out audits and maintaining compliance with set standards.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to prioritise tasks in a fast paced setting.
  • A strong communicator with the ability to motivate and support staff.
  • Knowledgeable about infection control, COSHH, and health & safety procedures.
  • Able to work flexibly, including occasional weekends or evenings if required.
