Claims Fraud Investigator - First Party
LocationBexhill or Leicester (Hybrid)
Role OverviewWork within our award winning Fraud team at Hastings Direct to protect customers from fraud by investigating claims and ensuring we remain competitive.
Responsibilities- Screen first party high risk claims (theft, fire, single impact, malicious damage) and all referrals from claims teams.
- Screen incoming theft and arson claims against known fraud indicators and risk factors, identifying cases that warrant deeper investigation.
- Conduct telephone interviews of claimants, using specialist cognitive interviewing and conversation management techniques to assess risk and identify inconsistencies.
- Provide focused instructions and liaise with investigative suppliers (field investigators, engineers, forensic specialists) as needed.
- Manage a claims caseload in line with service levels, maintaining file discipline, accurate reserves, and an effective diary system to ensure timely case reviews.
- Utilise desktop tools, internet checks, and databases to profile claimants and direct investigations.
- Claims handling experience (motor claims) with a solid understanding of fraud.
- Excellent attention to detail - ability to spot inconsistencies across documents and evidence.
- Strong problem solving skills combined with effective communication abilities.
